Subtitles / Closed Captions

In Australia, we have one network that has just added a new H.264 HD service. Other networks have done this in the past without a problem. However, all subtitles / closed captions for this network have now stopped working whereas subtitles for other networks are still function OK.

Curiously, only Topfield PVRs seem to be affected. Several brands of TV and at least 2 other brands of PVR function correctly.

Has this phenomenon been seen in European Topfield models (terrestrial, cable or satellite) before? Are there any European networks that do not show subtitles on Topfield units?

Luckily I didn’t need that feature till now. Is it possible to download a 2 or 3 minute recording from a working and a non-working recording?

Is it possible to get the subtitles using the TV's subtitle function when you play back a non-working recording?
